Dwayne Lamont Gilliam Sr

Dwayne Lamont Gilliam, Sr., 45, of Lorain. passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2024, in Cleveland Clinic-Main Campus following a short illness. Dwayne was born March 22,1978 in Elyria, Ohio, and had been a life-long resident of Lorain County. He graduated from Admiral King High School in 1997, where he played football as a running back.
Dwayne enjoyed singing, dancing, and listening to music. He was an avid LeBron James fan. He loved basketball and spending time with his family.
Dwayne will be sadly missed by his wife, Amanda Gilliam (née Bates); his children, Honesty Gilliam, Dwayne Gilliam Jr., and Izaiah Gilliam; his stepchildren, Shaylah Bates and Brandon Bates; his granddaughter, Amira Love Gilliam Kirk; his mother, June Morris; his brothers, Harold (Latasha) Morris, Daniel (Ashley) Morris, Michael (Cherry) Morris, and Ike (Chasta) Gilliam Sr.; a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends.
Dwayne was preceded in death by his father, Speaul Morris; grandparents, Harold Mills and Florine Tillman, and James and Selina Worthy.
Visitation will be held Monday, January 22, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at 11:00 a.m. at Cathedral of Praise Worship and Family Center, 4545 Elyria Ave., Lorain OH 44055, where Bishop Melvin Brown, Pastor is officiating. Burial will take place at Brookdale Cemetery in Elyria.
