Janet K. Boley, 73, of rural Burlington, died at 3:00 PM Friday, June 12, 2009, at her home. Born April 9, 1936, in Ottumwa, Iowa, she was the daughter of Henry and Edna Adams Mairet. On October 19, 1957, she married Carl L. Boley in Birmingham, Iowa. Janet retired as a school bus driver for the Burlington Community School District. She was owner and operator of Boley's Blooming Flame on Agency Street and Big River Popcorn on Central Avenue both in Burlington. She was a 1954 graduate of Fairfield High School. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Great River Ramblers and Midwest Pacers Motor Home Clubs, Burlington Women's Club, Beta Sigma Phi, Rock Creek Church Restoration in Ollie, Iowa, Older Iowans Legislature, Des Moines County Red Cross and Disaster Relief, Rebuilding Gulfport and Stevenson Lake Area, and Operation Food Basket. She enjoyed playing bridge, crafts, crocheting, camping, and especially spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Carl; one son, Kirby (Sharon) Boley of Burlington; one daughter, Stacy (Bob) Hiller of Burlington; three grandchildren, Janelle (Trent) Cooperman, Jordan Boley, and Alaina Brown; two step-grandchildren, Stacie Frede and Aaron Augustine;six step-great-grandchildren;and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister. As per the request of Mrs. Boley, cremation has been accorded. Visitation will be from 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday, June 15, 2009 at the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home. The Memorial Service for Mrs. Boley will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Debra Miller-Kinney officiating. Inurnment will be 2:30 PM at Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for First Presbyterian Church and Rock Creek Church Restoration in Ollie, Iowa.
