Dwight Wray Alford

Dwight Wray Alford, age 88, passed away on November 11, 2025. He was born September 4, 1937, in Franklin County, to the late Rayford Alford and Mary Pearce Alford. Dwight served honorably in the US Air Force from 1956 to 1960. He was a loving and caring husband and father, who will be dearly missed.

Dwight is survived by his wife, Bonnie Hocutt Alford; children: Mickey Alford-Lane (Kurt), Brent Alford (Allyssa), Andrea Switzer (John), Joy Alford-Brand (Ron); grandchildren: Ian Lane, Ike Lane, Brent Alford, Kylie Alford, Erica Evans (Derrick), Evin Switzer, Ellyea Switzer; great grandchild, De'Mari Evans; stepchildren: Gene Moore, Jr., Steve Moore, Susan Moore; step grandchildren: Vicky Wobble, Jonathan Walthall, Angel Beasley; siblings: Joe Alford, Wayne Alford, Nancy Crites, Steve Alford, Sue Beliveau, Jon Alford; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Dwight was preceded in death by his first wife, Sheryl Kay Cope; siblings: Hugh Alford, Jacque Rogers, Bobby Alford, and Greg Alford.

Funeral service, with military honors, will be held at 12:00 pm, Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Good News Independent Baptist Church, 13184 Hwy 98, Spring Hope.

The family will receive friends and relatives, prior to the service, from 11:00 to 11:45 am, at the church.

Burial will take place at Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, Goldsboro, at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to SECU Hospice.
