Dwight Arthur "Buzz" Berkstresser Jr.

Dwight Arthur "Buzz" Berkstresser, Jr, 88, of Topeka, formerly of Neodesha, KS, died Monday, September 25, 2023 at Aldersgate Nursing Home in Topeka. He was born August 10, 1935 at Versailles, MO, the son of Reverend Dwight Arthur, S. and Beulah Jane Woods Berkstresser. He was a 1953 graduate of Versailles, MO, High School.
He married Shirley "Colleen" Schnoor on Friday the 13th of January 1956. Together they owned and operated Dairy Queens in Coffeyville and Neodesha for over 50 years. "Buzz" was a preacher's kid and he had read the Bible over and through seven times. He was a member of Bethel Church of God in Neodesha and the Tyro Christian Church in Tyro, KS. He enjoyed golf, bowling and baseball, where he was a pitcher and enjoyed playing with his four sons.
He lived in Topeka his last five years with their daughter, Sharolyn. Sharolyn provided her parents with great care and dedication as they both battled cancer.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley "Colleen" Berkstresser, a daughter, Sharolyn Marvin, four sons, Bill Berkstresser, Phillip Berkstresser, Joe (Valerie) Berkstresser, Steve (Kelinda) Berkstresser, two sisters, Nellie Whiteland, Sarah Jamis, three brothers, Phillip Berkstresser, Allen Berkstresser, John Berkstresser, four grandsons, Zac Berkstresser, Jarod Berkstresser, Bradley Berkstresser, Tarik Berkstresser, four granddaughters, Alisha Weber Goodson, Amanda Foster, Amy Weber, Megan Berkstresser and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, Artha S. Berkstresser, a sister, Betty and a brother, Willie.
Funeral Service will be at 3:00 PM, Monday, October 2, 2023 at Bethel Church of God, Neodesha. Visitation will be 2:00 to 3:00 PM before the service at the church.
