Dwight Greer

Mr. Alvin Dwight Greer, 93, of Hartwell, passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at the Callie & John Rainey Hospice House, Anderson SC.

Born on February 8, 1932 in Lavonia GA, he was the son of the late Thomas Ward Greer and Addie Mae Motes Greer. Mr. Greer owned and operated Greer Furniture Company of Hartwell for 37 years before his retirement. He was an avid fisherman and one of the founding members of the Hartwell Bass Club. He was also a member of the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church and the McDoyle Sunday School Class. Mr. Greer was a veteran of the United States Air Force.

Survivors include his wife: Ruby Lee Greer; two sons: Alan Greer of Los Angeles CA and David Greer (Connie) of Hartwell GA; one daughter: Linda G. Denman of Hartwell GA; two sisters: Ann Stewart (Terry) of Hartwell GA and Jo Settle of Jonesboro GA; two granddaughters: Bethany Greer and Andrea Watkins (Scott) both of Hartwell; two grandsons: Austin Greer of Hartwell GA and Jeremy Denman (Danilee) of Ellabell GA; numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews also survive.

Mr. Greer was preceded in death by his parents; great granddaughter: Athena Denman; brother-in-law: Billy Settle and great nephew: Sammy Stewart.

The family will receive friends Sunday, December 7, 2025 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. Other times the family will be at the home.

Funeral services for Mr. Dwight Greer will be Sunday, December 7, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Jason Webb and Mr. Leslie Boles officiating. Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, 2973 Mt. Olivet Road, Hartwell GA 30643.
