There wasn´t a better place to be than the Iles home in Burnside, Iowa. So many happy memories there.
Ike was the sweetest kindest cousin you could ask for. He shared all his Golden books and tinker toys and blocks with Bird and I.
Playing outside in the summer was wonderful!!! It usually included a trip to the town´s grocery store. For 3 cents we could buy a chocolate bar with almonds.
Aunt Audrey would pay us for yard work and then she and Uncle Clifford took all of us to Henry´s in Fort Doge for burgers, fries, and a pop, wow.
Dwight and us twins took dance lessons together. Certainly arranged by Aunt Audrey. I recall our dance performance "Zorba the Greek" in Boone, Iowa with Betty Mae!!
And I remember when Ike converted a room in their basement. He must have used several rolls of aluminum foil as all the walls were covered. We´d listen to the Beatles on his record player.
A lifetime of beautiful and joyful memories are stored in my mind and in my heart! I am grateful to have had him as a 1st cousin.
Life twists and turns but these sweet memories have always been with me and always will.
His memory is a blessing
