Graveside services for Dwight Eric Larson, 63, of Chriesman, Texas are set for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Chriesman Cemetery, with Rev Roy Dillard officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, October 25, 2013 at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell. Mr. Larson passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at his home in Chriesman, Texas. Dwight was born June 20, 1950, in Port Arthur, Texas, to Leonard Carl Larson and Lou Ella (Speckman) Larson. Dwight attended Wm. B. Travis Elementary school and earned a diploma from Thomas Jefferson High School. He then attended Lon Morris College, graduating with a diploma and transferred to Sam Houston University Huntsville, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. Furthering his education, he entered Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas and graduated with a Business Administration degree. After being employed for several years as a photographer for Port Arthur News, Dwight was employed as postmaster of the Chiresman United Post Office. Dwight was a member of the Chriesman United Methodist Church and was treasurer of the church for a number of years. He is preceded in death by his father, Leonard Larson and one sister, Pamela Dunklin. He is survived by his mother, Lou Ella Larson; brother and sister-in-law, Lenny and Jo Ann Larson; brother-in-law, Gerald Dunklin a very dear friend, Bessie Royall; and aunt, Billie Moeller of New Braunfels; and many loving nieces and nephews and friends. Dwight was always ready with a big smile to help someone in need and he had a great love for the outdoors. He loved his cows, horses, donkeys, little ponies, cats, dogs, chickens, turkeys, and two talking parrots. The family requests that memorial be made to the Chriesman United Methodist Church or to the charity of your choice.
