Dwight Henry McHazlett Sr.

Dwight Henry McHazlett Sr. was born on December 22, 1947 in La Pryor, Texas to Matthew G. and Emma (Martinez) McHazlett. He married Alice "Sissy" (Dennis) on February 23, 1970. After graduating from La Pryor High School, he attended mechanics courses at Southwest Texas Junior College. Soon after, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he became a paratrooper. After concluding his military service, Dwight went on to become a farmer, rancher, and owned a trucking business. He loved his wife, was incredibly proud of the children they raised, and made many good friends in his life. He was beloved and respected as a veteran, business owner, and friend. He will be dearly missed.
Dwight is survived by his wife of almost 53 years, Sissy of La Pryor; mother Emma McHazlett of La Pryor, son Dwight H. Mc Hazlett Jr. and wife Rebecca of Bay City, Texas; daughter Lanette McHazlett Sanchez and husband John of San Marcos, Texas; grandchildren Bradley and Brayden McHazlett, and Emma "Emmie" Sanchez. He is preceded in death by his daughter Lenise McHazlett, father Matthew Gonzales McHazlett, and brother Matthew McHazlett, Jr.
Visitation will begin on Monday at 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and continue on Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary with a prayer service on Tuesday at 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary with interment to follow at La Pryor Cemetery.
