Dwight Dean Reed was born November 20, 1956, in Bonne Terre, Missouri. He was the son of Woodrow W. and Dorothy P. (Boland) Reed. At the age of four Dwight moved to Viburnum and graduated in 1975 from Viburnum High School. After high school, he furthered his education with Mineral Area College and obtained his associate degree. On August 6, 1994, Dwight was united in marriage to the love of his life, Kimberly Marie Jones. This union blessed them with a lifetime of lasting memories. He was a family man; his nieces and nephews were his world. He enjoyed hunting on the farm with his brother and trout fishing at Montauk with his nephews. Dwight was still actively working the Doe Run Company, Casteel Mine as an Ore Hoist Technician. When he wasn't with his family or working, he was volunteering. He has served for twenty years as a volunteer firefighter with the Quad County Fire Protection District, as an EMT with Iron County Ambulance District, and as an Alderman on the Viburnum City Council. Dwight was a goer and liked to stay busy. He enjoyed traveling and loved photography. He was a big history buff and had always had an interest in airplanes. Dwight was a man of great faith and member of Mt. Pleasant United Baptist Church. Dwight entered eternal rest August 9, 2025, at the age of sixty-eight years. He is survived by his loving wife: Kim Reed of Viburnum, MO; mother-in-law: Juanita Jones of Viburnum, MO, brother: Wilson Reed and wife Mary of Bonne Terre, MO; sister-in-law: Lesa Reed of Columbia, MO; brother-in-law: Karl Jones and wife Krystal of Davisville, MO; sister-in-law: Karen Kuykendall and husband Rick of Black, MO; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends. Preceding him in death were his parents: Woodrow and Dorothy Reed; brother: William "Bill" Reed; father-in-law: Charlie Jones; niece: Casey Davis; and nephew: Matt Mullen. Dwight never met a stranger and would make friends everywhere he went. He always had a friendly smile to share that would light up a room. His laugh was contagious and heartwarming. Dwight had a great sense of humor and loved bringing joy to others with his playful pranks or being pranked. Dwight has left a lasting impression on many hearts. His presence will be forever missed but never forgotten. Funeral Services for Dwight Dean Reed were held Wednesday, August 13, 2025, in the Wilson Mortuary Viburnum Chapel with Elder Adam Asher and Dr. David Hedrick officiating. Special Music was provided. Serving as Pallbearers were Dustin Reed, Rick Kuykendall, Richard Gillam, Travis Thompson, Corey Galloway, Andrew Galloway, Kurtis Mueller, and Grant Reed. Burial was in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Park Hills, Missouri. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Viburnum, Missouri. Condolences may be left online at www.wilsonmortuary.com
