Dwight Rions

Dwight Rions, age 70, passed away at his home in Northfield on Tuesday, June 17. Dwight Thomas Rions of Northfield, Minnesota, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 17, 2025, at the age of 70. He was born in Owatonna, Minnesota, on January 25, 1955, to Thomas and Lola Rions. Dwight graduated from Owatonna High School in 1973.
On September 9, 1975, Dwight married the love of his life, Carla Brown. Together, they built a beautiful life. Dwight dedicated 30 years of his career as a 911 dispatcher for Steele and Rice County, where his calm, steady presence was a source of support for countless people in their time of need.
In his personal life, Dwight found joy in many things, but most especially in his family. He was an avid gardener who took great pride in his lawn, and he enjoyed hosting family gatherings with swimming and BBQs. Dwight was also a devoted member of the Northfield Moravian Church, where he served on the church board.
Those who knew Dwight will remember him for his kindness, compassion, and gentle nature. His ability to listen and understand made him a cherished friend and a beloved family member.
Dwight is preceded in death by his parents and his younger sister, JoLynn Rions. He is survived by his wife, Carla Rions; sister-in-law, Tamera Schott; daughters, Brande Westerberg, and Tami (Ben) Black; siblings, Cindy (Randy) Gladden, Kris (Jeffrey) Jackson, and Todd (Brenda) Rions; many nieces and nephews; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were his pride and joy.
A Celebration of Dwight's Life will be held at 1:00PM, Monday, June 23, at the Bierman, Benson and Langehough Funeral Home of Northfield with visitation held for one hour prior. Interment will be held at the Northfield Cemetery.
