After High School, he furthered his education by attending Bucks County Community College, graduating in 1972 and subsequently Trenton State in 1974 where he studied Criminal Justice and received a Bachelor’s degree.
Dwight’s professional law enforcement career began as a juvenile parole officer in South Carolina. In 1987, he joined the U.S. Customs Service. Later after 911, Dwight became a founding member of the Department of Homeland Security.
Some of his professional accomplishments include being recognized as Outstanding Law Enforcement Officer for the Southern District of Florida in 1995 by the Department of Justice. In 1998, Dwight participated in an undercover sting operation called Lunar Eclipse involving US Customs, NASA and the US Postal Service. The team successfully retrieved one of NASA’s Apollo era Moon rocks that had been given to a foreign government but subsequently went missing. Special Agent Weikel received a certificate of appreciation from NASA for his efforts.
Dwight’s last posting was at the US Consulate in Hong Kong, China from 2003 to 2009 where he served as the Immigration and Customs representative. He retired as a Special Agent from Homeland Security in 2009 with 22 years of service.
After his government retirement, Dwight became a private contractor in the United Arab Emirates for three years, responsible for training Abu Dhabi customs employees.
