Burial will be at Zion Lutheran Church cemetery. A meal will be served following the burial at the Conicville Firehouse. Pastor Katie Gosswein will officiate.
Dylan was born August 24, 2004, at Fairfax Inova Hospital. He was the middle triplet of all boys. He came into this world at 25 weeks and weighed 1 lb 8 oz. He proved to be a fighter since the day he was born. He spent 6 months in the NICU at Fairfax. He returned to his home in Conicville with his 2 brothers. There he continued to thrive and grow. He developed blindness while in the hospital. He was also autistic. He made up for his blindness by having a fantastic memory. He could memorize books after a few times. You could not mix him up. He loved music. He could tell which singer was singing a song, sometimes within a few notes of the music. We went to many concerts featuring both country and gospel music. He loved The PromisedLand Quartet and Ernie Haase and Signature Sound. We had our special group of friends that attended many of these concerts together. His music buddies were Betty Stephens, Vicki Mumaw, and Ann Hollar. We had a great time together. We will miss him so much.
Dylan attended W.W. Robinson Elementary, VSDB – Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind, and Stonewall Jackson High School. He graduated from Stonewall in 2023 and was attending his 3rd year of post graduate life skills training. He absolutely loved going to school and all his teachers and classmates. He also loved his bus driver and bus aide. Everyone that met Dylan couldn't help but fall in love with him. He always had a smile on his face and rarely had a bad day.
He participated in the local 4-H and showed sheep at the Shenandoah County Fair. He won many prizes. He loved to go to the fair and eat hamburgers and fries. Although his absolute favorite food was McDonald nuggets, fries, and Sprite.
He was preceded in death by his Maternal Grandmother Betty Lambert and his Paternal Grandfather Merl Ludwig.
He is survived by his loving parents who absolutely cherished him, Wade and Carla Ludwig of Conicville/ Mt. Jackson. Also surviving are his triplet brothers Chad and Cody at home, Paternal Grandmother Nancy Ludwig of Edinburg, Maternal Grandfather Jerry Lambert (Rachel Warner) of Edinburg. He was Granddaddy's boy. Also surviving are Aunts Teri Wilkins, Kelley Funkhouser (Weldon), Uncles Lanny Wolfe (Audrey), Leslie Ludwig and Brian Ludwig. Also had many cousins on both sides of the family.
Pallbearers will be Weldon Funkhouser, Leslie Ludwig, Brian Ludwig, Clayton "Duff" Rice, Chad Ludwig, and Nick Pirkheim.
We find comfort in knowing that Dylan is in the precious hands of our Savior and that we will be reunited with him someday. We imagine all the fantastic and beautiful things that he is now seeing. He is whole again.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Federation of the Blind, HSSC – Humane Society of Shenandoah County or the Conicville Fire Department.
We want to thank all those who came into Dylan's life and showed him love. We know Dylan will live on in all of those that loved him. We will cherish his memory forever.
