Dylan Sotherden, 16, of Cumberland, passed away on Friday, October 10, 2025, at Grant Medical Center in Columbus from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Dylan was born on October 27, 2008, in Marysville, Ohio, son of Randy and Krystle (Herron) Sotherden. He was currently a junior at Mid-East Career and Technology Centers, enrolled in the Electrical Technologies program, and also John Glenn High School where he was a proud member of the Muskies Football Team and was on the track team as a shot put and discus thrower.
He loved spending time outdoors, especially working on the family farm. An avid deer hunter, Dylan spent countless hours in the woods scouting, shed hunting, filming his hunts, planting food plots, and checking cameras — always striving to outdo his last season’s trophy. He also enjoyed fishing and was an active member of the Kick’n Country 4-H Club, where he showed cattle and lambs. His dedication led him to begin breeding cattle for show, and he was especially proud to have won the 2024 Grand Champion Market Steer at the Muskingum County Blue Ribbon Fair.
In addition to his parents, Dylan is survived by his sister, Chelsea Sotherden; his maternal grandmother, Sandra Herron; his paternal grandfather, Ronald Sotherden; his aunts and uncles, Adam (Tracey) Herron, Katrina (Jeremy) Kreager, Kayla (Dustin) Wolfe, Matt Sotherden, and Mark (Tara) Sotherden; his cousins, J.D. Herron, Blythe Herron, Kase Kreager, J.R. Kreager, Linkin Wolfe (best friend), Elle Sotherden, Mia Sotherden, and Charlotte Sotherden; as well as countless other friends whose lives he touched.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Arthur Herron; his paternal grandmother, Susan Sotherden; and his special friend, Levi Tysinger.
Dylan gave the precious gift of life through organ donation, a gift that will go on to save or enhance the lives of six other people.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions in Dylan’s name to ‘The Dylan Sotherden Fund’, c/o Community Bank, 199 West Main Street, New Concord, Ohio 43762.
