E. Wayne Cooley

Mr. Cooley seemed like a person who has lived his life to the fullest. Now he's asleep hoping to hear the words Lazarus heard when Jesus resurrected him saying "Lazarus come out" meaning from the grave. So for now rest in peace.

May the God of all comfort be a healing and soothing spot in your hearts.

E. Wayne Cooley's Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union kept more small towns alive longer than any thing else. Some of those towns grew because of his untiring work. So sorry to hear of his passing. And Yes he put on a Grand show in March every year. Sure miss it.

What I admired was his enthusiasm about his home town of Coon Rapids, even though he hadn't lived here in more than 50 years. I lost a notable long time subscriber. Growing up in Iowa, I remember watching the girls state basketball tournament every March and hearing Mr. Cooley emcee the awards ceremonies. He could do it like no one else.

I was deeply saddened to hear of E. Wayne's passing, which has now activated all the great memories I have of your Dad and Mom, us growing up and how kind they were to me.

What an extraordinary man and life! Cooley Family......my sincere condolences...I earned my first paycheck from Dr. Cooley....under the tutelage of the late Gary Page from Urbandale, I was very active in girl's athletics and last saw Dr. Cooley at the six-on-six 'reunion'....he will be greatly missed and was a powerful man. He has touched many, many lives.
