Mitchell was survived by his wife Virginia Bright McCown; daughters Chrissy Youngblood, Nicole Shepherd, Hope Wells, and Brittany McCown; siblings Vickie Cobb, and John McCown; his father Earl McCown jr; grandchildren Bobby Strong Jr, Anthony Strong, Caleb Mooney, Phillip Donlon, Ashlynn Cadwell, Gavin McPherson, Lakeland Shepherd, Brooklyn Russell, Dalton Russell; great grandchildren, Bobby Strong III, Delilah Mooney, and Junior "Bruce" Mooney
He is preceded in death by his mother Patsy Crowley McCown.
