Earl "Butch" Lyle Morgan, 86, of Russellville, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, January 19, 2026. He was born on August 21, 1939, in Madison, South Dakota, to Barney and Rose Ella Anderson Morgan.
Butch married the love of his life, Judy Morgan, on August 20, 1977, in Russellville. Together they built a life rooted in faith, family, and service. He worked in sales and was most proud of being a devoted husband, loving father, cherished Papaw, and Great-Papaw.
A humble man with a servant's heart, Butch was a longtime member of St. John's Lutheran Church, where his faith guided his daily life. He was active in the woodworking club and found great joy in crafting wooden toys for Toys for Tots, quietly giving to bring smiles to children.
Butch loved the simple pleasures in life – watching rodeos and westerns, reading western novels (especially those by Louis L'Amour), and most of all, spending time with his family. His gentle spirit, steady presence, and kind heart will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandchildren; his son-in-law, Miles Walton; one sister; and three brothers.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Judy Morgan of Russellville; three daughters, Julie Morgan (Frank) of Russellville, Kim Walton of Dallas, Texas, and Veronica Brownlee (Warren) of Russellville; one son, David Reed (Cynthia) of Chillicothe, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Ashley Burch (Jeff) of Dardanelle, Emilee Holt, Eric Sims, Matthew Sims (Kourtney), Andrea Harshaw (Bill), Harry Brownlee, David Reed Jr. (Rachel), Nathan Reed, and Samantha Ross (Colton); 15 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Betty Hefner (Harold) and Ethel Evans (Paul).
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at St. John's Lutheran Church with Rev. Darrell Kobs officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the church. A private committal service will take place at the Chapel of Light at J. Herman Humphrey Dignity Cremation Center under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.
Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, 500 North Cumberland, Russellville, AR 72801. Online condolences and guestbook are available at www.humphreyfuneral.com.
