Earl R. Smith, Jr., of Washington, New Jersey, passed away on December 5, 2025, at St. Luke’s Anderson Campus in Easton, Pennsylvania.
He was 76 years old.Born on February 19, 1949, in Phillipsburg, New Jersey, Earl was the son of the late Earl R. Smith, Sr., and Betty Smith (née Buchman).
He was a proud graduate of Belvidere High School and honorably served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.
Earl worked for many years as a machinist with Bergen Machine and Tool in Hackettstown, New Jersey. He later continued to serve his community as a custodian for both Mount Olive High School and Clinton Middle School.
A man of many interests, Earl loved taking cruises, traveling, and listening to music from the 1950s and 1960s. He had a deep appreciation for Westerns—especially anything starring John Wayne—and found joy in woodworking. He was also a dedicated member of the American Legion and remained a proud veteran throughout his life.
Earl is survived by his loving wife, Donna, and his uncle, Claude Buchman. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Ronald.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Sunday, December 14, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, at Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 West Washington Avenue, Washington, New Jersey.
