Visitation will take place on Thursday, June 19, 2025, from 3:00pm - 4:00 pm with a Funeral Service to begin at 4:00 pm at 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie NY 12205.
On Thursday, we will honor the life and legacy of Earl D. Smith. Earl was born on October 17,1966 in Nassau County at Nassau County Memorial Hospital, to the late Nathanial "Billy" Smith and Mary Magalean Saunders.
Earl was raised in Roosevelt, NY where he attended Roosevelt High School. Earl enjoyed running track and enjoyed music, his favorites including: "Ain't Nothing like A G Thang" by Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg, "Return of The Mack", and "I Got Five on It."
Earl loved to dance, play pranks, and play spades where he would often cheat. His excuses were always, "No- you just can't play." Please don't ask him a question he deemed stupid because then you will get with his infamous line, "What are you retarded" - and don't you dare blow your horn around him nor drive slowly, or you'd hear him say: "Your horn blows. Do you?" which always made us laugh. He had no filter and said whatever came to his mind. Earl was just an all-around joyful person. Most of all he loved his family.
Earl leaves behind to continue his legacy, his wife Theresa Smith and his children Elisa Smith, Equne Smith, Nyasia Smith and Cory Smith; thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; his four Godchildren, and his siblings, Nathaniel Smith, Donna Hogan, Gloria Smith, Sharon Smith-Barr - Av Barr and Lavarn Williams. Also, a host of nieces and nephews, family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Earl is predeceased by his children Shavonda T. Smith and Shabare Smith. His siblings, Annette Smith, Paul Smith, Alfred Saunders and Lasharn Saunders.
Earl was a jack of all trades. From mechanic work to construction work, he was a hard worker and whatever he set his mind to do, he did. If you needed your car fixed, he could do that. If you needed him to watch you plant, however, you were better off giving him a dog! He leaves behind his sweet Dutchess.
In his earlier years, Earl was known as "Eaze E." but the new generation knew him as "Black Pearl". But he indeed, will always be our 'Brother E.'
We will hold and cherish every memory we shared. We will forever keep Earl always in our minds and forever in our hearts.
