Earl Smith Obituary

Visit the Greenlawn Funeral Home Southwest website to view the full obituary.
It is with profound sadness and yet with great hope that we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother, husband, grandfather, and friend, Earl Smith. Earl passed away peacefully on March 14, 2026.

After a courageous battle with cancer, Earl is now safely home with the Lord. Though his presence will be deeply missed, we take comfort knowing he is waiting to greet us one day at those forever gates of glory.

Earl was born in Sydney, Australia, on November 6, 1945, to Wayne and Mercia Smith. He proudly served his country as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps, and he remained a true American patriot throughout his life. Following his honorable discharge, he earned a bachelor's degree from California State University, Los Angeles. He began his career as a Social Worker with Los Angeles County before moving in 1972 to Kern County, where he served as a Real Estate Appraiser for the Kern County Assessor's Office. In 1982, he founded his own successful real estate appraisal business.

Earl was a lifelong learner with a brilliant mind. He was a master chess player, a dedicated practitioner of Tai Chi, and an avid reader who never stopped seeking new knowledge. He took special joy in devoting countless hours to researching his grandchildren's activities and interests, always eager to support and celebrate them.

Earl is survived by his loving wife, Jeani; his son, Rolland; his son, Jason Meadors, and daughter-in-law, Jennifer; his three cherished grandchildren, Jackson, Grant, and Ella Meadors; and his sister, Janice White.

Our family extends heartfelt gratitude to the exceptional care teams at CBCC, Mercy Southwest, and Hoffman Hospice for their compassion and support during this journey.
