Earleen “Pat” Claxton, age 84, of Baxley passed away Thursday, March 5, 2026 at her residence.
Mrs. Claxton was born July 30, 1941 in Appling County to the late Joseph B. Bowen and the late Nora B. (Kersey) Bowen. She was a member of Friendship Congregational Christian Church. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother; known for her sweet spirit and friendly smile. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Isaac Claxton.
Survivors include her daughters, Pam (Kenny) Hutcheson, Cindy (Jerry) Thomas, Peggy Claxton, Melanie Claxton, and Angie (Scotty) Weaver all of Baxley; sisters, Sue Guynn of Brunswick, Nellie Tootle and Jackie Siddons both of Baxley. Six grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 7, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Friendship Congregational Christian Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Will Thomas, Coty Weaver, Matt Thomas, Bryan Weaver, Danny Sikes, Chad Hutchinson, and James Hayes.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Roger and Carolyn Smiley, Mike and Retha Hutto, Pam Beach, Joe and Penny Eason, Jerry and Cindy Tomberlin, and Bobby and Ann Jones; Caroline Anderson and Staff; Ladies Sunday School Class at Friendship Congregational Christian Church and all friends and neighbors in attendance.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the time of service.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Swain Funeral Home.
