Earlene Mullins, 98, of Haysi, Virginia, passed away peacefully on the evening of November 15, 2025, while her daughter-in-law, Nancy, was reading to her from her favorite book, the Bible. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Born on June 26, 1927, in Bartlick, Virginia, Earlene was the daughter of Jim and Maude Mullins. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Ira Lee Mullins; her children Paula Wright and Rhonda Swank; her siblings Ronnie Mullins, June Colley, Lockie Bowman, Violet Presley, Lois Mullins, Roy Mullins, Sallie Willis, John Mullins, and Hal Mullins; and her great-grandchild Keith Johnston.

Earlene is survived by her children Lynn Porter, Ralph (Nancy) Mullins, and Kevin (Jocelyn) Mullins; 13 grandchildren, Teri, Chris, David, Jaime, Melissa, Erica, Miranda, Sarah, Heath, Jim, John, Summer, and Heather; many cherished great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and siblings James (Marylou) Mullins, Sharon (Harry) Mullins, and Larry (Pluma) Mullins.

A woman devoted to faith, family, and community, Earlene deeply treasured time spent with her loved ones and her church family. She was an exceptional cook whose meals brought joy and comfort to all who gathered at her table. Earlene loved her mountain home in Virginia and poured her heart into creating a warm, welcoming place for family and friends.

She enjoyed traveling with Ira, appreciating nature, and embracing the simple beauty in everyday moments. A graduate of Haysi High School, Earlene’s favorite hobbies included sewing, birdwatching, baking, and gardening where her passion for flowers bloomed as vibrantly as her spirit. She also truly enjoyed shopping trips to the mall with her girlfriends and family.

Earlene sang in the choir at Westside Free Will Baptist Church in Columbus, Ohio, and was a dedicated member of the Ladies Auxiliary at both Westside Free Will Baptist Church and Splashdam Free Will Baptist Church in Haysi, Virginia.

Blessed with an abundant sense of humor and a generous heart, Earlene was the most loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, family member and friend her family could have hoped for. Her legacy of warmth, devotion, and kindness will be forever cherished. She will be deeply and dearly missed.

Visitation will be held from 1-2pm, Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Kingwood Memorial Park Mausoleum, 8230 Columbus Pike, Lewis Center, OH 43035, where a funeral service will begin at 2pm.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Judes Children's Research Hospital.
