Earlyn Bleecker Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hilgenfeld Mortuary on Mar. 2, 2026.
Earlyn Peter Bleecker

Birth: October 24, 1958 | Died: February 22, 2026

Earlyn Peter Bleecker, was born in Bellflower, California, and grew up in Anaheim in a home built by his father. From his parents, he inherited a beautiful blend of gifts: his mother's elegance, musicality, and appreciation of the arts, and his father's love of building, craftsmanship, and hands-on creativity. These influences shaped him deeply and became central to the man he was.

Music was woven into the fabric of Earl's life. He loved classical, jazz, modern-and especially punk and hard rock. With his professional grade stereo system, he enjoyed hearing every note with clarity and passion. Two of his favorite songs were the timeless "Besame Mucho" and David Bowie's "Wild as the Wind," both of which reflected the depth of emotion he felt in music.

Earl also had an enduring love for working with his hands. He treasured the smell of wood, which reminded him of warm childhood days spent building and fixing things with his father. His garage-always filled with tools, machinery, and ongoing projects-was one of his happiest places. Among the many things he built, the gazebo in his backyard, overlooking the mountains, stood as his proudest creation. In recent years, he discovered a love for welding, embracing the craft with enthusiasm-from the helmet to the sparks.

As a young man, Earl initially followed in his father's footsteps as a builder, but his natural charisma, humor, and storytelling ability led him into a successful 40 year career in Sales within the Home Furnishings Industry. Known for his integrity, loyalty, and tireless work ethic, he earned deep respect from customers and colleagues alike. He spent the majority of his career with Deluxe Bedding / Spring Air as a mattress manufacturer's sales representative, serving retailers of all sizes. Admired for his cheerful outlook and expert product knowledge, he became known as the "Road Warrior" for his willingness to drive anywhere, in any weather, to support his accounts. His signature phrase, "When you're open, I'm open. Call anytime," was more than a line-it reflected who he was.

In 2012, Earl moved east for work and, in New Jersey, met the love of his life, Joanne. From the beginning, their connection felt natural, familiar, and destined-"Where have you been?" Their love was one that only a few are blessed to find in a lifetime: deep, rare, and soul level. They truly knew, understood, and genuinely liked each other for exactly who they were, as much as they deeply loved one another. While living in New Jersey, they cherished precious time with Joanne's family-enjoying Casino Royale nights, family barbecues, and holidays filled with warmth and laughter. Together they built a life in Flanders, NJ, before retiring to California, where Earl felt most at home. He loved enjoying authentic Mexican food (menudo and burritos, his favorite), wine tastings in Temecula, trips to the casino, browsing antique shops, exploring museums, and vacations in Scottsdale and Phoenix. Yet, more than anything, he cherished quiet evenings at home with Joanne, sharing home cooked meals and cozy nights on the couch.

Earl was a first generation American of Mexican, Native American, and Dutch descent-the latter reflected in his surname and his family's connection to early Dutch families in New York. He carried the strength, passion, and determination of his Mexican American roots, the calm, warm, peaceful spirit of his Native American heritage, and the proud history of his Dutch lineage. He held a grounded blend of traditional values and compassionate open mindedness. He treasured spending time with his sisters and family, especially during holidays when his sisters made delicious homemade tamales, rice, beans, and Mexican hot chocolate-meals that brought the whole family together and filled the house with warmth. They also loved gathering around the table for Lotteria, checkers, and various card games, sharing laughter, stories, and warm, playful moments together.

A man of profound faith, Earl was baptized at Mission San Luis Rey-a place that held special meaning for him and will be his final peaceful resting place. He prayed daily with deep intention and sincerity, always lifting others up in his prayers. Despite many health challenges, he remained grateful and felt blessed for each day. He and Joanne knew they had found their forever partner in one another-late in life, but perfectly timed.

Earl is survived by his beloved wife, Joanne; his sisters, Norma and Sandy; his sister in law Sharon and her husband Dave; his sister in law Dawn and her husband Ed; his nieces Monica, Adriana, Jordan, and Nicole; his nephew Louie; and many extended family members and dear friends who will miss him beyond measure.

Although our hearts ache, we take comfort in knowing he is home in Heaven, lighting up the heavens just as he lit up every room he ever entered. Until we meet again, love.
