Stephanie and Family:
It has been over two years since your father's passing. I know that you and your siblings, children and two grandsons, Quincy and Quenton
( Q & Q), miss him still. Your father truly loved all of you and you all loved him; I was aware of this each time you spoke of him, and you spoke of him with endearment quite often. You all knew that he spoiled you, but he did not mind or apologize, probably because--as a man of the Cloth--he knew that he would leave you all abruptly, for it would be too painful to depart any other way.
I remember the two special times I saw him--at the "house items" sale, a week before Katrina ( ironic, huh?) and at your 40th birthday party. You and "us girls" were together to share a joyous moment at your party. We shared this moment- as your familly always did--everybody pitched in and participated...your mom, children, children's friends, cousins, aunts, adopted relatives and neighbors. There was so much good food!!!
At the August event, I still recall how Ronald gave your dad a small ball to squeeze for his arthiritis. He was so proud of that "token" and I laughed with him about his pride--the pride he had for all of you girls : you, Bridgette, Sandra ; his four boys: Eric , Ronald, Q and Q; and his soon-to-be born namesake and granddaughter.
Now that all of you have relocated to Texas, NOLA is not the same. The reality hit when I returned to my family home ~ 6 weeks ago and drove past your house around the corner. Do not be sad because you are away. God has provided a good transition for all of you, at your daddy's request, I'm sure. Reflect, therefore, as often as you can, on the good memories your entire family, including your Aunts and Uncles shared as a loving and supportive family unit in New Orleans. Know, too, that your dad "is not dead; he's only just gone HOME".
Love Always, Kelly (sister/friend). My best regards to your mom, Ms. Elnora, Shirley, and your beans-eating fiance (smile).
