WORLEY-LUGINBUEL FUNERAL HOME - JAY, OKLAHOMA - 918-253-3222. Eddie Gene Coats, born June 3, 1941, passed from this life on May 4, 2019 with his family at his bedside.
Eddie was born in Vinita, Oklahoma. He leaves behind the love of his life, his wife Avenell Buchanan Coats with whom he was married to for over 60 years. They were married in Torrance California on July 18, 1958.
He is survived by his wife Avenell and their four children; Doris Rhoads, Debbie Davis and husband Steve, James Coats all of Jay, Oklahoma and Donna Harp and husband Darrell of Miami, Oklahoma. Eddie was blessed with 13 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Sondra Hostin and husband Richard, and several nieces and nephews.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents James Ellis Coats and Sylvia Irene (Lane) Coats and brother Wayne Ellis Coats.
Eddie’s entire life revolved around his family. His happiest times were when he was surrounded by his family. He loved building and was a Carpenter by trade. He retired from Fleming Building Company of Tulsa after working for them for more than 25 years.
Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel in Jay, Oklahoma. Burial will immediately follow at the Spavinaw-Strang Cemetery. Online condolences can be made at www.honoringmemories.com or on the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Facebook page.
