Eddie Lee "Red" Grandberry, Sr.,96, of Dixon, IL, passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at Dixon Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Dixon. He was a Steel Worker for Spring Products in Chicago for 30 years.
Eddie was born on June 16, 1929, in Tunica, MS, the son of Rufus Lee Grandberry and Susie Woods. He married Eressie Woods on March 19, 1948, in Tunica, MS. Eddie surrendered his life to Christ at a young age, also in Tunica, MS. He was a member of Second Baptist Church in Dixon and of the United Steel Workers Union. Red loved cowboy and army pictures. He was a talented photographer and loved to travel and spend time with his family.
Red is survived by his children, Annie (Nate) Terry, Eddie (Diane) Grandberry, Jr., Tommy Grandberry, Donell Grandberry, Khadijah Grandberry, Chinita Jackson, Andre Grandberry, Eddie Grandberry III, Chinito Jackson, Curtis (Gabrielle) Ward; nieces, Essie Mae (Noah) Winifield, Shelby Davis; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and great-great-great-grandchildren.
Red was preceded in death by his father, Rufus Lee Grandberry; mother, Susie Woods; wife, Eressie Grandberry; 4 children; 14 siblings; and several grandchildren.
A Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of the Funeral Service at Noon on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at the Second Baptist Church in Dixon, with Pastor Sorrells and Pastor Darby, co-officiating. There will be a Luncheon to follow the service at the church. Cremation Rites will be accorded.
Memorials may be directed to the family of Eddie Lee "Red" Grandberry.
Arrangements were completed by Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon.
