Eddie Lee Perdue, 68, of Littleton, CO, died Tuesday, June 27, 2023, while a patient at Centura-St. Anthony Hospital, in
Lakewood, CO. Eddie was born on April 14, 1955, in
Greensboro, NC, the son of Roosevelt Perdue and Addie Mae Shelton. He worked for the City of Englewood, CO as a utility supervisor, where he retired on April 30, 2010. He married Carol Ann Zimmer on August 16, 1986, in
Lakewood, CO.An all-around likeable guy, Eddie had a great sense of humor. You could joke with him, and he would turn around and give it right back. He enjoyed golf, playing cards, and gardening. While wintering in Arizona with Carol, Eddie would play golf weekly. He canned tomatoes and made salsa with the produce he grew. And Eddie spread the love of Hawkeye football into Colorado while partying with family and friends. Eddie served in the United States Army 1973 until 1976, where he was a clerk typist at Augsburg, Germany. He was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal and attained the rank of Specialist 4.
Eddie is survived by his wife of 36 years, Carol; son Errol Zimmer; grandsons, Emory Zimmer and Bode Zimmer; and his siblings, Larry (Beverly) Perdue, Linda Jackson, and Bobby Williams, all of
Greensboro, N.C. He was preceded in death by his mother, Addie Mae Williams, brothers Barry Perdue and Dickie Perdue, and his sister Brenda Sue Clinard.
Funeral services for Eddie will be Saturday, July 22, 2023, at 11:00 AM, at Locke in La Porte City, 606 E. Main Street, La Porte City, IA. Burial with military honors will follow at West View Cemetery in La Porte City. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, July 21, 2023, from 5 - 7 PM.
