Eddie Rangel Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Thomason Funeral Home - Lockhart on Mar. 30, 2026.
Eddie Garza Rangel Jr. , who was born on October 16, 1963, in Lockhart, Texas, lived a life defined by service, devotion, and a deep love for the people around him. He was known by those who loved him as a loving, generous, and kind man whose presence brought comfort and strength to his family and friends. His life story reflects a man who worked hard, served proudly, and treasured every moment spent with the people and places that mattered most to him.

Eddie attended Lockhart High School, where he laid the foundation for the life of discipline and commitment that would later guide him through his military and professional career. He went on to serve his country for more than 26 years as a Sergeant with the Army National Guard, a role that spoke to his dedication, leadership, and sense of duty. After years of faithful service, he retired from the Federal Government, leaving behind a record of hard work and responsibility that earned the respect of all who knew him.

Those who knew Eddie remember that he loved dancing and found joy in movement, music, and celebration. He also loved helping people, and that generous spirit was evident in the way he treated others with patience and care. He had a deep love for his family, and that love was central to the way he lived each day. Eddie also enjoyed mechanics, water sports, and spending time at the river and the beach, where he found peace, happiness, and a chance to enjoy the simple pleasures of life.

Family was the heart of Eddie's world, and he leaves behind a large and loving family who will carry his memory forward. He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Celinda Rangel; his son, Ryan Rangel, and Ryan's wife, Celina Rangel; his daughter, Nina Lopez, and her husband, Jose Lopez; and his daughter, Megan Staton, and her husband, Justin Staton. He is also survived by his brother, Hector Rangel, and Hector's wife, Maria Rangel; his sister, Esther Montana, and her husband Rockey Montana; and many grandchildren who brought him great pride and joy.

Eddie was preceded in death by his father, Erasmo Rangel, his mother, Elmira Rangel, his brother, Rene Rangel, and his brother, Jaime Rangel. Their memories remained a part of his life, and the bonds of family were something he carried with him always. He understood the importance of family history, family unity, and the strength that comes from standing together through every season of life.

He was a proud grandfather to Kaden Rangel, Landon Rangel, Kylie Rangel, Braycen Staton, Lyle Staton, Tanner Staton, Jaycee Lopez, Serenity Lopez, Colson Staton, and Liam Lopez. Each of them held a special place in his heart, and he found joy in watching his family grow across generations. His grandchildren will remember him as a man whose love was steady, whose spirit was warm, and whose smile could brighten any room.

Eddie Garza Rangel Jr. will be remembered for the life he built through service, love, and kindness. He carried himself with humility and strength, and he touched the lives of many through his actions and his example. His legacy is one of devotion to family, honor in service, and a genuine care for others that will not be forgotten. Though he is no longer physically present, the impact of his life remains deeply felt by all who knew and loved him.
