Eddie Samuel Obituary

Published by Claire Brothers Funeral Home - Houston from Nov. 20 to Nov. 21, 2019.
Eddie Leon Samuel was born on December 2, 1948, in Palestine, Texas. He was the seventh child to the late Elois and Allenett Sumuel. Eddie was a Christian and accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He believed in prayer and the power of God. He graduated from San Jacinto High School and served in the US Army Reserves, where he was honorably discharged in 1975. Eddie was married to Ms. Joyce Osborne and to this union two sons, Brian and Rodney, were born. He later married Ms. Thelma Hudson and had a close, loving relationship with his step-daughter, Tassia. Eddie was a first responder for the Houston Fire Department, serving as a paramedic and firefighter, retiring after 35 years of dedicated service. He was known for his unselfish dedication, kindness, and compassion for the welfare of his family whom he loved so dearly. Everyone that knew him often spoke of his calm demeanor, humble spirit, outgoing personality, and his remarkable ability to never complain. He was regarded highly by all, and had numerous lifelong friendships. Eddie was a very strong and courageous fighter until the end. He lost his battle with Leukemia on Saturday, November 16, 2019. Eddie was preceded in death by his parents: Allenett and Elois Sumuel; his oldest brother: Reverend Willis Allen Sumuel; and two sisters: Della Louise Sumuel, and Doris Nell Franklin. He is survived by two very special ladies, Joyce Coleman and Thelma Samuel; his two sons, Brian Samuel (Kim) and Rodney Samuel; one step-daughter, Tassia Ward; three sisters, Julia Etta Winfield, Anna Ruth Sumuel and Judy Carol Sumuel; one brother, Robert Earl Sumuel; nine grandchildren, Brian Samuel, Jr, Bryce Samuel, Brandy Samuel, Brianna Samuel, Rodney Samuel, Jr, Roderick Samuel, Roshaad Samuel, Ryleigh Samuel and Rebekah Dillard and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. There will be a funeral service, Monday, November 25, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Dynamic Faith Church, 15955 W. Hardy St #202, Houston, Texas 77060. Arrangements have been entrusted to Claire Brothers Funeral Home, 7901 Hillcroft Street, Houston, Texas 77081.
