Edgar Brock Obituary
Mr. Edgar Ray Brock, age 86, of Rome, GA, passed away on Monday, November 3, 2025, at a local hospital.
Mr. Brock was born in Rome, GA, on January 11, 1939, son of the late John Henry Brock and the late Annie Bell Ellington Brock. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Sue Brock, his grandson, James Dustin Nixon, 3 siblings, J.L. Brock, Martha Blaylock, and Kenneth Harris, and by his stepmother, Daphne Harris Brock. Mr. Brock was a 1957 graduate of Pepperell High School. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. Mr. Brock retired from Georgia Power after over 35 years of service.
Mr. Brock was an avid golfer and in his younger days would play almost every day. He was quick to help anyone in need and helped build some of the cabins at the Sloppy Floyd State Park. Mr. Brock enjoyed fishing, taking his kids camping when they were younger, and traveling, collecting a hat from each place visited. He was a member of the Summerville-Trion Optimist Club and of Dry Valley Baptist Church in Trion, GA. Mr. Brock may be gone from our sight but we are confident he is rejoicing in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for eternity.
Survivors include his 4 children, Angie Beard (Larry), Silver Creek, Jamie Nixon (Ken), Starkville, MS, Cheryl Wolfe (Jim), Silver Creek, and Gary Davis (Nona), Armuchee; 6 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; a brother and sister, Betty Kelly and James Brock; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3pm on Sunday, November 9, 2025, in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with Mr. Barry Henderson officiating and her great-granddaughter, Avery Pate, delivering the eulogy. The Rome American Legion Honor Guard will deliver military rites at the funeral home. Private interment will take place in Green Hills Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 1pm until service time on Sunday at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel.
Pallbearers are to assemble by 2:30pm on Sunday at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, and include: Jeffrey Davis, Bennett Davis, Kaleb Beard, Kameron Wolfe, and Dustin Pate.
