Edgar T. "Cowboy" Saxton Jr., age 89, of Delaware City, DE, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026.

Born in Wilmington, DE, on July 24, 1936, he was a son of the late Edgar T. and Eva L. (Walker) Saxton, Sr. Edgar proudly served in the United States Air National Guard. He made his career as a carpenter with Carpenter's Local #626 until his retirement in 1996.

A pillar of the community, Edgar spent 63 years as a dedicated member of the Delaware City Lions Club. He also spent 63 years as a life member of the Delaware City Fire Company. Edgar was a man of faith and member of the Delaware City Presbyterian Church. He also enjoyed being a member of the University of Delaware Touchdown Club.

In addition to his parents, Edgar was preceded in death by siblings, Beatrice Hasting, Ellis Saxton, and Francis Walker. His loving wife of 45 years, Charlene M. (Evans) Saxton, passed away two days after him on February 8, 2026. He is survived by his children, Tina Akers (Rick), Paul Allen (Tammy), and Amy Boyer (John); and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 12 noon on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at the Delaware City Fire Company, 815 5th Street, Delaware City, DE, where a funeral service for Edgar and Charlene will begin at 12 noon. Interment will follow in Delaware City Cemetery, 530 West Clinton Street, Delaware City, DE.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Edgar's memory to the Delaware City Lions Club, P.O. Box 338, Delaware City, DE 19706.
