DEGRASSE- Edison Clarence Curtis, age 91, of DeGrasse, NY passed away on Monday, January 12, 2026 at Massena Rehabilitation and Nursing Home.

Edison was born on June 24, 1934 in DeGrasse, NY to the late Earl B. and Rosella V. (Shaw) Curtis. He attended school on Silver Hill and then at Knox Memorial in Russell. He entered into the United States Army during the end of the Korean War and served until his honorable discharge.

Edison married Eleanor Piercey in 1955 in Indiana, just before he was sent overseas to the war. Edison was 21 and Eleanor was 19 when they married. Eleanor passed away on December 7, 2003 at the age of 68. When he was younger, he worked for Albert Rider who was the caretaker of Twin Falls Hunt Club in DeGrasse. Then Edison worked for Seaway Construction before going to work for Shade and Roller Company in Ogdensburg until his retirement. Edison loved hunting, fishing, walking in the woods and woodworking. He devoted his time to his family and camping in the summer.

Surviving is a brother, Robert (MaryAnn) Curtis; four sisters, Mabel Pryor, May Durham, Nellie Whitmarsh and Pansy (Al) Hill; and several nieces and nephews. Edison is predeceased by his wife, Eleanor; his parents; two brothers, Kenneth and Pearl Curtis and three sisters, Harriet Macel Curtis, Hazel Webb and Violet Akin.

There will be a graveside service for Edison at Pine Hill Cemetery in Ogdensburg at a later date with his nephew Reginald Curtis officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to French Funeral Home, Edwards. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com .
