Thomas E. Melvin & Son Funeral Home, Inc. - HarringtonEdith J. Andrews, 85, of Harrington went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 5, 2026. She was the daughter of the late Ami and Joy Hamstead.
Edith was a 1958 graduate of Greenwood High School and after raising her kids, she became an insurance secretary with Nationwide Insurance in Harrington, Delaware. She was a charter member of the Independent Bible Fellowship church, in Harrington, Delaware, where she enjoyed playing the piano and organ for many years. Edith remained an active member doing whatever was needed through the years including helping with the floral arrangements. Always willing to help others, she also volunteered at the Country Rest Home and played piano for the residents there.
Edith loved being with her family, she especially enjoyed cooking holiday meals and Sunday dinners for them. She will be remembered for being a loving, humble, soft-spoken lady of faith.
In addition to her parents, Edith is preceded in death by her sisters, Norma Obier and Lucille McDaniel.
Edith is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, David Andrews; children, D. Keith Andrews, Tammy Andrews, Christopher Andrews; grandchildren, Brandon Andrews (Nicole), Trenton Donovan (Secilia), Tyler Andrews (Miranda), Lauren Slater (Riley), Conner Andrews (Sommer), Bradley Andrews (Marisa); great grandchildren, Madilyn and Hannah Andrews, Kyla, Ella, Amelia and Edward Donovan, Jayce and Jade Slater, Liliana Howell, and Corbin Andrews.
A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 11 AM at the Independent Bible Fellowship Church, 6927 Milford Harrington Hwy, Harrington, DE. A visitation will take place one and a half hours prior, starting at 9:30 AM. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Independent Bible Fellowship Church Missions Fund.
