Edith H. Baas Aug. 27, 1915 — Oct. 19, 2009 Edith H. Baas, 94, died at 7:35 a.m. Monday, October 19, 2009 in Marion General Hospital. She was born in Terre Haute, Indiana to the late Charles and Anna (Dickey) Harden and moved to Marion in 1954. She married Edward J. Baas on August 11, 1940. He preceded her in death on March 22, 2004. Edith was a 1932 graduate of Garfield High School, Terre Haute. She received her B.S. in 1936 from Indiana State Teachers College. In 1956, she received her Master of Science from Indiana University. She taught at Horce Mann and Riverview in Marion Community Schools, retiring in 1975. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Marion and the United Methodist Women. Edith was a member and past president of P.E.O., Chapter AG, Marion and Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority. Survivors include a daughter, Jane Ann (Stephen) Sharon, Marion; a son, James Edward (Sally) Baas, New Brighton, Minn.; grandchildren: Amy (Jack) Wood, Sweetser, Jennifer (fiance, Dan Strawmyer) Craven, St. Petersburg, Fla.; Mandy (Matt) Ryan, Northfield, Minn.; Missy (Greg) Wilkinson, Indianapolis, Brad Baas, Madison, Wis.; great-grandchildren, Bailey, Tristan and Jordan Ann Craven, Silas & Gretel Ryan, Sarah, Elizabeth and Judith Wood, Meredith Wilkinson. Edith was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Anna Harden; sisters, Erma Shriner and Ethel Lister, and brothers, Ernest Harden and Frank Harden. Funeral Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 23, 2009 in First United Methodist Church, Marion with the Rev. Kaye Patton officiating. Entombment will be in Gardens of Memory, Huntington County, Indiana. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 22, 2009 in Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, 1341 N. Baldwin Avenue, Marion, and one hour before the service in the church. Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church, Marion, or P.E.O., Chapter AG, Marion, Indiana.
