Edith A. Beyer

HYDE PARK - Edith A. Beyer, 81, a lifelong area resident, died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2007 at Vassar Brother Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. Born Nov. 5, 1925 in Poughkeepsie, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Florence Peelor Ackerman. She was a graduate of Poughkeepsie High School, Class of 1943. On Sept. 20, 1944, in St. Mary's Church, Poughkeepsie, she married William P. Beyer. Mr. Beyer predeceased her on Oct. 24, 1992. She was a communicant of Regina Coeli Church in Hyde Park. She was a very active volunteer at Regina Coeli Church and school. Mrs. Beyer was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Irenita #69 and a past Regent of the Court. She was also a District Deputy of Court Santa Maria #164, Kingston; Court Nilan #985, Highland; Court Queen of Peace #1534, Wappingers Falls and the area Chairman Past Regents Chapter of the Archdiocese. She was a member of Hyde Historical Society, Northern Dutchess Caregivers Coalition and also volunteered with Hyde Park Meals on Wheels. Survivors include her children, Thomas W. Beyer of San Jose, Calif.; Robert A. Beyer and his wife, Geoia of New Paltz; James M. Beyer and his wife, Gwen of Missoula, Mont.; John T. Beyer and his wife, Karen of Hyde Park; Mary Lanthier and her husband, David of Staatsburg; and Richard M. Beyer of Highland; 14 grandchildren, Jennifer and her husband, Aaron Miller, Matthew and Kurtis Carrasco-Beyer, Christopher, Jessica, Brandon, Nichole, Jordan, Lucas, Lauren, Carey and Derek Beyer and Erik and Samuel Lanthier; three great-grandchildren, Madeleine, Mellinda and Mason; two sisters, Jean Roe and Elizabeth DiBona, both of Mesa, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her sister, Vera Hawes. Calling hours will be 4-8 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 8, at Sweet's Funeral Home Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m., Friday, Feb. 9, at Regina Coeli Church, Rte. 9, Hyde Park. Father Michael Palazzo will officiate.
