Edith Dodd Obituary

DYER CHAPEL-Edith Dodd, a beloved matriarch and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on October 6,2024, at Bailey Manor. Born on November 3, 1949, in Baxter, TN, she was the daughter of Henry Gambrell and Myrtle Williams Gambrell.

With a remarkable career spanning 32 years, Edith retired from Fleetguard in Cookeville, where she was respected and well-liked by her colleagues. Throughout her life, she was known for her sweet and kind nature, even as she exhibited a stubborn streak that endeared her to those who knew her well. Edith treasured the simple joys in life, often finding peace while tending to her beautiful flower garden or sitting on her front porch, soaking in the tranquility around her.

Edith was a proud member of Ozion Freewill Baptist Church, where she dedicated time as a Sunday School teacher, shaping the minds and hearts of many young individuals with her warmth and wisdom. Her love and commitment to family were evident in everything she did, and she derived immense joy from spending time with her grandchildren-grandsons TJ and Hudson Dodd, along with honorary granddaughter Courtney Maxwell.

She is survived by her son Shaun Dodd and his wife Christy, as well as her siblings: Lavada Minnear, Faye Ashburn and her husband Alfred, TJ Gambrell and his wife Sue, and Judy McKoon. Edith also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews who adored her.

In addition to her parents, Edith is preceded in death by her sister Roberta Uhles. She will be deeply missed and remembered lovingly by her family and friends.

A funeral service honoring Edith will be at 11 AM Thursday at the Dyer Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Visitation with family and friends will be Wednesday from 5 - 8 PM and again Thursday from 10 - 11 AM. Edith will be laid to rest at Dobbs Cemetery. Bro. Danny Lane will officiate.

Serving the family as pallbearers will be Shaun Dodd, TJ Dodd, Hudson Dodd, Allen Dodd, Tommy Phillips, and Maggie Caudill.

Edith Dodd's legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Dyer Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. (931)526-7158 Share condolences and memories at www.hhhfunerals.com.
