Edith Emery Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 30, 2009.
Edith Emery, 90, of Bremerton passed away March 30, 2009 at Belmont Terrace. Edith was born in Great Falls, Montana to Anna and David Crabtree. The family moved from farm life to Seattle in 1934, where she finished high school and went to business college. After working a short while in downtown Seattle, she met and married Chuck Emery and they moved to Bremerton, where they raised four children. Edith was a great homemaker, wife and mother, and worked with Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts and everything else her children were involved in. She enjoyed family, camping, crossword puzzles, reading, cooking and dancing. When Chuck retired, they moved to Port Orchard and took up golf, becoming members of Clover Valley Golf Club. They enjoyed many years of golfing and traveling before moving back to Bremerton in 1995. After 60 years of marriage, Chuck passed away in 2000 and Edith moved in with her daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Chuck Krogh. In the past nine years she has continued playing pinochle with a group that started over 50 years ago - she was the only remaining founding member. She also joined a "31" card club and showed the young crowd a "thing or two" about playing cards. Edith celebrated her 90th birthday in August with almost 100 loving family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband and her son; Roy Walter. She is survived by daughters: Jan Krogh and husband Chuck, Tracy Fantz and husband Brian, and Leslie Morgan and husband Don, and her "adopted" son Daniel Herriges and wife Valerie; She is also survived by grandchildren: Janine Krogh and husband Jeff, Rick Rodriguez and partner Dana Bassen, Matthew Gray and fiancé Jodi Morris, Julia Rodriguez, David Rodriguez and fiancé Jenn Skidmore, Kristy Laxson and husband Mike, Rachel Johnson and husband Brian, Joe Krogh and wife Angela, Julie Krogh and Justin Krogh; great-grandchildren; Allycyn, Zakary, Mandi, Krissy, Josh, Jesse, Stephanie, Anthony, Erin, Kayla R., Rachel, Holly, Elisabeth, Anna, Kayla G., Riley, Bryce, Marycatherine, Charley, Bobby, and Crystal; sisters: Ethel Crowe of Redmond, Billie Radcliffe of Santa Paula, CA, Phyllis Lind of Sun City, AZ, and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Walt and Etha Emery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Hospice of Kitsap County, American Heart Assoc, or a charity of your choice. A memorial service will be held at Lewis Funeral Chapel Saturday, April 4th at 2PM.
