Edith O. Kazmierski, age 88, of Wyandotte, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by love. Edith was a devoted mother, cherished sister, beloved grandmother, and great-grandmother whose warmth and kindness touched all who knew her. She is survived by her loving children: Susan Czaplicki, Pamela Farnsworth, Michelle (Michael) Zacny, and Gregory Kazmierski. Edith also leaves behind her dear sister Joyce "Rusty" (Harold) Hamrick, who shared a lifetime of memories and companionship. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Janelle, Emily, Brenden, Kaitlyn (DJ), Justin, Kelly (Cody), Rachel, Donald, Joseph, and John, and her great-grandchild Levi, each of whom brought her immense joy and pride.
Mom was born and raised in a holler in West Virginia. She lived a simple life and often reminisced about her childhood and upbringing with her sisters and brother. She would share stories of "grandma's house" and how much she loved spending time there. West Virginia is where mom's love of nature developed and she carried that love with her til the end. While we were rushing through our days, mom always stopped to recognize a tree or smell a flower or pick up a rock or a seashell. She moved to Michigan after she graduated from East Bank high school but she never forgot her roots. Even in her last months she would recall events from her childhood with a smile on her face. Mom cherished her life in Michigan as well, and the family she grew and loved so dearly. After giving birth to three daughters, her and Dad decided to try "one more time" for that boy. Her family was finally complete. Her beloved husband passed away in 1983 and mom had to find a way to survive without him. Mom took many jobs, including a job at McDonald's to keep her home in Wyandotte where she lived until her final day. Mom adored her children and grandchildren and more recently her great grandchild, who lit up her life. Mom would always be the last one to sit down at the dinner table and the last one to get up. She loved fruits and vegetables but more importantly, she loved her ice cream! No matter the flavor (except chocolate) she would end her recent days with a bowl, or two, of ice cream! Mom will be so deeply missed by all of us but we know that she ran through those gates with joy and excitement as she met all of her loved ones who departed before her.
