Edith Marie Gribbins Kinard, 80, of Valdosta died Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at Lakehaven Nursing Home. She was born on May 1, 1930 in Louisville, KY to the late Elic and Stella Lee Orrender Gribbins. Mrs. Kinard was a retired bookkeeper with the Lowndes County Board of Education and a member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church. She met and married Andrew Freeman Kinard in Kentucky and moved to Valdosta in 1960. Mrs. Kinard was dedicated to her family and was always there for them. She enjoyed traveling, loved to dance and volunteering. Mrs. Kinard was a member of the Jr. Women's Club, Valdosta Jr. Service League, Valdosta Elks Auxillary and Ladies of Hadassa (Shriners). She is survived by two daughters, Kathy Dallas and Cindy Kinard of Valdosta, three grandchildren, Andrea "Andi" Sale and her husband, Michael, Lauren Dallas and Tyler Dallas, all of Valdosta, two great grandchildren, Jayden and Hallie Sale of Valdosta, sister, Doris Louise Gribbins, brother and sister in law, Aleck Gribbins, Jr. and his wife, Betty, sister and brother in law, Bernice Wise and her husband, Russell, all of Louisville, KY, numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Kinard is preceded in death by four sisters and brother's in law, Lonnie and Marshall Carter, Dean and William Lenhart, Clorsey and Hubert Berry, Audrey and Carlos Rigdon, one brother and sister in law, James Howard, Sr. and Doris Gribbins. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 18, 2011 at 10 a. m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Elder Lynwood Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from five until seven p. m. Thursday at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to your charity of choice.
