Edith Lade Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Thompson - Larson Funeral Home, Minot on Aug. 25, 2025.
Edith Joan "Edie" (Bechtold) Lade, 74, of Minot, ND, formerly of Velva, ND, passed away August 22, 2025, at Trinity Hospital, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous six-year battle with cancer.

Edie was born February 3, 1951, in Minot, ND, to Bennie and Velma (Busch) Bechtold and graduated from Minot High School in 1969. In 1974, she married the love of her life, Daniel Lade. Together they farmed near Karlsruhe on their Lazy Owl Ranch and operated Edie Seeding Service for 18 years. They lovingly raised four children, filling their lives with family, trips, and traditions.

She will be remembered for her intelligence, kindness, and creativity, expressed through her cooking, cake decorating, quilting, gardening, and love of books. Her greatest joy was her seven grandchildren, with whom she shared tea parties, lake days, and quiet reading. She was a devoted member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church where she taught Bible school for 10 years. She later became a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Minot.

Edie is survived by her husband of 51 years, Daniel; children, Roland (Sharon Boeshans), Carl (Jennifer Entzel), Jennifer (John) Illich, and Sara Lade; grandchildren, Alexandria, Josa, Olivia, Sophia, Hunter, Katelyn, and Isabella; siblings, Gail (Dan) Spilovoy, Laurel (Vern) O'Brien, Beverly (Jim) Anderson, and Jerry (Elvira) Bechtold.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Donald Bechtold; and brothers-in-law, John Lade and Wade Lade.

In accordance with her wishes, no funeral service will be held. She will be laid to rest at Emmanuel Cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to the Evangelical Lutheran Emmanuel Cemetery of Eureka Township, Ward County, ND, care of Carl Lade (Venmo: @Carl-Lade).

Edith's legacy will live on in the love of her family, the beauty she created, and the many lives she touched through her generosity and kindness.
