Edith Laufer Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 19, 2012.
Edith was preceded in death by parents, Catherine (Parker)and Leo McGill, and 7 siblings: Arlie (Orzolek), Genevieve (Miller), Leona (Auterman), Mary (McMillin), and Dave, Edward, and Jim McGill. Surviving siblings include Patricia (Trenkamp), Joe (Mary) McGill, and Raymond McGill. She leaves behind Edward, her spouse of almost 70 years, and 3 children (daughter Mary Marts, and sons Gene (Betty) Laufer, and Gary Laufer). She was blessed with 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 1 great, great grandson . She is also survived by nieces, nephews, their families, and friends too numerous to count. Edith was born into a family of 11 children. She took on responsibility and adopted a hard-working attitude early in life. Her belief in God and commitment to her Catholic faith followed her throughout her life. She met Ed when she was 13, and they married when she was 18. They experienced almost 70 years together, raised 3 children, and experienced a lot of joy through everyday living. Edith was an accomplished seamstress who could do anything with needle and thread. She was an avid reader who loved both music and nature. Baking, walking, and riding a bicycle were high on her list of enjoyment. Her door was always open for coffee and a chat. She hated to sit and loved to be on the go and had a special gift for loving people and making friends. The love she had for Ed was incredible. Edith loved nothing more than to sit with Ed in the porch swing, soak up the sun, eat a bowl of ice cream, play a good game of cards, and spoil her dog. She was the center of her immediate family. Her motto hung on the refrigerator, a simple quote which reads "May you live all the days of your life". She truly DID live all her days, and her stories will be told for years to come.
