Edith Moore Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Memorial Park Funeral Home & Cemetery on Jan. 22, 2026.
Longtime Oakland resident Edith Andrella "Andy" Moore died Tuesday, January 13, 2026, after a long illness. She was 85 years old.

Andy was a California native whose mother, Memphis-born Ella Mae (Mosby) Moor,e encouraged her to pursue movie stardom. Andy's brief career on the silver screen culminated in a bit part in "Love is Better than Ever" with Elizabeth Taylor, after which Andy was pleased to retire at the age of 12. Tragically, both Ella Mae and Andy's father, Andrew Moore, died before Andy was 15 years old. Andy and her older sister, Joyce Ellen Moore, drew support from each other and remained very close until Joyce's death just a few years ago.

Romance and her spirit of adventure led Andy to move from California to Colorado, to Ohio, before settling down in Tennessee, where she had deep ancestral roots going back to the early 1800s. She lived in Fayette County for close to 40 years, and before she fell ill, she devoted her time and considerable talent to creating a beautiful, multi-acre fruit and vegetable garden.

Andy's spiritual home was the Episcopal church. She was active at St. Elizabeth's in Bartlett, where she became a lay reader. She then studied and qualified to become a lay Eucharistic minister. In her later years, she transferred to St. Thomas church in Somerville, where a memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 28th, 2026, at 2:00.
