Edith Elizabeth Murilla, age 90, of Mankato, passed away Monday, January 19, 2026 at New Perspective Senior Living in Mankato.
Visitation will be held from 4-7pm, Thursday, January 22, 2026 at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary. Funeral Mass will be 3pm, Friday, January 23, 2026 at All Saints Catholic Church in Madison Lake with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Madison Lake.
The family prefers memorials be directed to All Saints Catholic Church, 601 4th Street, Madison Lake, MN 56063.
Edith was born April 3, 1935 in Louisville, Kentucky to Robert and Antoinette (Schlesinger) Linker. She was united in marriage to Joseph Murilla, Sr. on January 2, 1954, and they were blessed with eight children. She worked as a cook at Loyola for many years and became well-known for her homemade pizza. She later worked in housekeeping at Good Counsel.
Edith was a woman of strong faith with a caring nature. She enjoyed spending time with her family and hosting holidays.
Left to cherish Edith’s memory include her children, Sandi (Steve) Kleinschmidt of Mankato, Tony (Phyllis) Murilla of Eagle Lake, Mary (George) Ploog of St. Peter, Dianne Schmitz of Madison Lake, Julie (Robert) Ploog of Kasota, Denise (Kent) Hoehn of Madison Lake, Michelle (Robert) Peterson of Mankato, and Joseph (Michelle) Murilla of Eagle Lake; 20 grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren; in-laws, Nancy Murilla of Mankato, Barb Murilla of Louisville, KY, and Caroline Linker of Louisville, KY.
Edith was greeted in Heaven by her parents; husband, Joseph Murilla, Sr.; son-in-law, Anthony Schmitz, Sr.; great-grandchildren, Michael and Madeline Schaefer, Brody Spector, and Ian and Lola Majerus; and many brothers and sisters.
