BETTENDORF, Iowa - Edith Nissen, age 83, of Bettendorf, Iowa, passed away on Friday, Nov. 7, 2025.
Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she grew up in Kendallville, Indiana.
She graduated from Arizona State University in 1965, with a degree in Advertising. This is where she met her husband of 58 years, Larry A. Nissen.
After teaching grade school, her passion for books led her to open The Book Rack in 1985, and sold it 25 years later.
She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution and a 50-plus-year member of Kappa Kappa Gamma.
She is survived by her husband; son, David A. Nissen (Jill), of St. Louis, Missouri; daughter, Amy Leadstrom (Peter), of Chicago, Illinois; her grandchildren, Anna Nissen, Nora Leadstrom, Ella Leadstrom and Tess Leadstrom; and her sister, Kathrena Green, of Cleveland, Georgia.
In accordance with her wishes, funeral services will be family only.
