Edith Snyder Obituary
Edith N. Snyder, age 65, of Iowa City, passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2025 at her home.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until noon on Friday, December 26, 2025 at Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service, where there will be a time of fellowship and luncheon following the visitation. Burial will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Born on November 20, 1960 in Marengo, Edith was the daughter of Wendell and Lucille (Craig) Snyder. Her parents sold the farm following her diagnosis, and they moved to Iowa City to be closer to the University of Iowa for Edith's care.
Edith attended the University Hospital School. She then worked for Goodwill Industries until her retirement. Edith's parents took care of her at home until 2002. She then moved to Reach for Your Potential where she received excellent care and made many lasting friendships.
She was quite the character and very feisty. Edith would often say, "Nope, not today!" She enjoyed M&M's, all things chocolate, diet soda pop, and McDonald's hamburgers. Edith looked forward to all holidays, but especially loved Christmas and singing Jingle Bells.
Edith will be dearly missed by her many caregivers and friends, especially everyone at Reach for Your Potential. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and her cat, Smoky.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Reach for Your Potential.
