Edith "Alene" Swadley, age 85, of Cassville, Missouri passed away Thursday, December 25, 2025 at Mercy Hospital in Aurora, Missouri.

She was born January 17, 1940 in Cassville, Missouri the daughter of Fred and Hazel (Williams) Sanders. On December 31, 1976 in Miami, Oklahoma she was united in marriage to Gene Swadley, who survives. Also surviving are her sons, Robert Wolf and wife Sheila of Eagle Rock, Jerry Swadley and wife Casey of Monett and Dwight Swadley of Republic; daughters, Jeanie Shearer and husband Joe of Fairview and Carla Lowe and husband Nathan of Neosho; twelve grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; four great-great-grandsons and two great-great-granddaughters.

Preceding her in death were her parents; grandson, Brandon Drake; brothers, Leon, Dick, Virgil, Donnie and Eldon and two sisters, Joreen and Karolyn.

Alene grew up and attended school in Cassville, graduating from Cassville High School in 1957. She was employed by U.S. Shoe, Jumping Jacks and Justin Boot for several years later taking on the responsibilities of bookkeeper and president of A-G Construction, Incorporated, from where she retired. Alene had lived here her entire life. She enjoyed reading, watching hummingbirds, doing puzzles, going on road trips and taking care of her family. Alene was a founding member and was very active in Cassville Cruisers. She approached life with open arms; she never met a stranger, and her presence was a comfort and joy to those around her. Alene will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Services are currently pending. Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.

Contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in memory of Alene.
