Edith Armstrong Townsend, age 89, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2025, in College Station, Texas.

Edith was born on October 30, 1936, in Saratoga, Hardin County, Texas, to Hubert L. Armstrong and Ruth Lee Coward. She lived a life deeply rooted in family, faith, and community-values she carried with her until the end.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Daniel D. Townsend Jr.; her sons, Hugh and Steven Townsend; her brother, Larry Armstrong, her sister Esther Rae Flewellen; her daughter in law April Rae Townsend, and her granddaughter, Cara Rose Townsend.

She leaves behind a loving family, including eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart. She is also survived by her sister, Jane Scott, and her husband, Moose; her daughters, Sharon Overstreet and Laurie Woodhead and her husband, Joe; and her daughter-in-law, Gay Townsend, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Edith enjoyed a career as a real estate broker, but her most important work was always her family. She was known for her deep love of family gatherings-especially Thanksgiving-when she delighted in bringing everyone together and sharing cherished family stories that connected generations.

Those who knew Edith will remember her as loving, devoted, and strong, with a gift for storytelling and a heart that welcomed everyone. Her faith was an important part of her life, and her church home was Midway Community Church, where she was cared for by Brother Robert Smith and his wife, Belvia.

A service celebrating Edith's life will be held on Saturday, January 10th, at 2:00 p.m. at Allison's Funeral Home in Liberty, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Edith's memory to the Alzheimer's Association at alz.org.

Edith will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who were blessed to know her.
