Edith Marie (Seltrecht) Wallis 1939- 2025 It is with heavy hearts that we announce our beloved mother, Edith Marie Wallis of
Cheyenne, Wyoming passed away peacefully in her sleep and traveled the path home to our Lord and Savior on November 27, 2025. There are no words to fully capture the essence of a life so beautifully lived, as we gather here to honor and remember the legacy left behind.
Richard and Dorothy Seltrecht celebrated mom's birth in March 1939 and baptismal in 1953. She graduated from Cheyenne High School, class of 1957 and in that same year, September 1957, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Richard Alan Wallis. Together they raised a family, traveled, and faced life's challenges with courage, kindness, generosity, compassion and selflessness, with humor and devotion to family and friends. Mom made a lasting impression on all that knew her. Her wisdom and life by example helped others become better versions of themselves.
For over 32 years Edith raised her family and made life-long friendships through dedicated service with the Laramie County School District #1, Cheyenne Wyoming. Upon retirement, and the passing of her husband, she enjoyed traveling throughout the country, sharing adventures with her sisters.
Edith was a lifetime member of the First Christian Church,
Cheyenne, Wyoming. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school and singing in the choir. Her commitment to serving the Lord continued through her participation in the Cheyenne chapter of the Eastern Stars.
Community service was important to her. She regularly assisted her son with Toys for Tots giveaways and community events.
Edith is preceded in death by her parents Richard and Dorothy Seltrecht, and sisters Reva, Georgia and Dixie as well as her loving and devoted husband, Richard Allen Wallis.
Edith was thankful and dearly loved spending time with family and friends. She is survived by her sister, Laura Watson, and her children, Dottie Wallis (Jim Mantell), Laurie (John) Spence, Judy DeLaura, and Richard (Lesa) Wallis. Her grandchildren Candice (Shane) Redman, Shane Brown, Tabatha (Tony) Conza, Amber Legler, Joshua Wallis and her wonderful great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on December 8, 2025, at the First Christian Church, Cheyenne Wyoming at 10:00am. A luncheon will follow the service at the church where friends and family can gather to share stories and honor mom's memory. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to
a favorite charity in her honor.
Rest in peace mom. Your legacy lives on in all of us.
