Kay was born July 19, 1923, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Edith Best Adkins and Ralph M. Adkins. In 1944 she entered the U.S.P.H.S. Cadet Nurse Corps. She then worked as a labor and delivery RN. She married World War II veteran Donald Wilson in 1947. Their daughters Bridget and Donna arrived in 1949 and 1956. In 1966, Kay began working at the Omaha VA Medical Center. She retired to San Diego, Calif., in 1986.
She was preceded in death by Don; sister, Dora June; and brothers, Raymond and Robert.
She is survived by daughters, Bridget of San Diego, and Donna of Gretna, Neb.
Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to San Diego Hospice or Disabled American Veterans. A graveside service will be held on September 10, 2011, at 3 p.m. at Cedar Lawn Cemetery, Crestlawn section in Council Bluffs. A reception immediately following the service will be held at Best Western, 2216 27th Ave., Council Bluffs.

My Dearest Aunt Kat: You will always be in my heart for I know you will always have your hand on my shoulder looking over me.
To Donna & Bridget, I share in your grief. My heart goes out to all of us who knew and loved her dearly. Our memories will be with us forever and will carry us through this time of sorrow.
