An icon and heroine who will live on in the hearts of every single lesbian woman and gay man who could only dream of wedding their heart of hearts and love of their lives...until Edie's courage and spunk opened the door for us all! Everyone was made to feel special, a hug, kiss, or touch. Amazing woman forever to be respected and missed.

The news of Edies passing hurt our heart however the memory of the warmth of her hugs, the meals she shared with us, the Shabbat service shared at Rosh Hashanah on board ship are such special memories. The entire LBGT community has lost one it's role models. Those of us who had the opportunity to meet you and talk with you will never forget your energy and your fantastic sense of humor. Eighty eight years was simply not long enough to have you with us. You and Robbie changed the nation which impacted the world, by simply standing up for what you knew was right. You would be humbled by the outpouring of tributes to you. You will always be one of my heroes.

May Edie and Thea enjoy their lives together finally in eternity as they did while living on earth. I picture them dancing to the music! May they both RIP and be forever together and in love.

I had the pleasure of meeting Edie and spend an hour in conversation after the case went to the supreme court but before the decision. She was smart, funny, determined and a delight. Thanks Edie, we are all indebted to you and love you.

It is hard to believe but Edie was so much more than a same sex marriage groundbreaker. She was an incredible care taker of Thea Spyer. Loving and caring, warm and fun person. Smart as a whip, she was recognized for her contribution to IBM. She was given many honors, and had a huge number of personal friends. A very special human being who grabbed life and lived it with enormous energy! You surely deserve your wings dear Edie.

Rest in peace Edith Windsor, please give my regards to Thea, you will forever be our hero.
