Edith Woodard Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Klein Funeral Home - Tomball on Feb. 23, 2026.
Katie, 78 of Cypress, Texas passed away the evening of February 22, 2026 in HCA North Cypress Hospital in Cypress, Texas.

Katie was born September 4, 1947 in Lubbock, Texas, daughter of Wayne and Edith Martin. She was married for 58 years to Charles Woodard. They had a son, Christopher, a daughter, Kimberly, and a younger son, James. Chris passed away in his 30's. Kimberly and her daughter, as well as James, his wife Allison and their 3 daughters all live in the area.
Katie is also survived by her twin brother, James Martin and his wife Eileen Welsome of Denver. She was preceded in death by her parents and older brother, Joe Martin. She has always remained very close to her nephew, Joe's surviving son Ricky, having helped raise him herself.

She had the opportunity to see a great deal of the world in her life. She and Charlie lived 3 years in Rapid City, South Dakota while Charlie was in the Air Force. From there to Midland, Texas for 4 years, then Houston area for 13 years. From there it was 5 years in Sumatra, Indonesia, and then 4 in the New Orleans area. Then to London for over a year before Norway for 3 years. In 2001 they briefly were back in Houston, then to The Netherlands for about a year before they returned to the Houston area and lived here in Cypress since 2003.

She was active in neighborhood activities centered around her kids, creative artistically, including doing stained glass art, loved spending time with family and friends, and she loved reading and movies. For many years she stood strong in the face of dealing with relapse-remissive Multiple Sclerosis.

She lives on in the love and memory of her friends and family. They remember her for her kindness, warmth and courage in the face of adversity.
